Following my latest post on Here Comes the ugly kid and family, the same channel TLC has another interesting show called Breaking the Amish. Basically they follow the lives of 5 Amish kids that decide to leave their families and move to NYC and obviously all this is taped and broadcasted. I think you kind of get the big picture if you think that they have always lived surrounded by cows and nature, no electricty, no running water, absolutely no technology.
Once on my way from DC I stopped in a beautiful place called Intercourse (and no this is not a joke, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intercourse,_Pennsylvania) and that was my first experience with the Amish, I really do not understand their way of living, and specially the fact that they make their kids follow their old and outdated rules. And for me the worst part is that if some of their kids decide otherwise they are shunned.
Recently there was a big incident in the amish community, someone was actually invading homes and cutting their beards. To be honest this people should be awarded a gift, because in my opinion and just looking at some pictures of amish men, these barbers were actually making them a favor... Fashion squad should be their name! I am so going to be hated by the amish after this comment, oh wait they do not have access to technology. Nevermind!!
