Best movie: 12 years a slave is going to be the winner at least I hope. It was by far the one with the most important message. Gravity is also a strong contender to be the winner, but I haven't watched since the storyline seems boring as hell...
Actor in a leading role: Chiwetel HAS to be the winner! He was just brilliant, if you watched the movie, all the details were just amazing... With this said, I wouldn't be sad if DiCaprio won, I think he has been so consistent throughout the years, that if we won maybe it wouldn't be so unfair. A mention to Matthew McConaughey, he was a very convincing Ron. Also, I think they should at least have nominated Tom Hanks, which is an actor I don't usually like, but this time he convinced me.
Actor in a supporting role: That's the thing, I just said that Matthew McConaughey was a very convincing Ron, but the surprise was Jared Leto's Rayon, therefore the Oscar better have his name on it. But, I really, really enjoyed Barkhad Abdi in Captain Phillips, specially for a debutant in acting, he kept me hanging throughout the movie with mixed feelings.
Actress in leading role: For this category I only saw two out of five nominated movies and for me Meryl Streep needs to win (I kind of say the same thing every year she is nominated). Amy Adams was great, but I really don't think academy will give it to her. I have been hearing lots of buzz about Cate Blanchett, but I am not a Woody Allen fan, so I might be biased against it. One person that should have been nominated was the little Sophie Nelisse for the Book Thief. I really enjoyed the movie, but I am a sucker for this kind of movies!
Actress in supporting role: This is for me the most difficult category. I think Lupita will win, but I really like Jennifer so I wouldn't mind her winning. But either of them winning is kind of unfair because Julia Roberts is the one who really deserves it. In 12 years a slave, I actually wouldn't give the oscar to Lupita I would give it to someone that was not even nominated: Sarah Paulson, I really thought her character was much more complex and complete. Jen is a awesome actress, and there is a huge hype about her, so she might also get the oscar, but it is not very fair as it wasn't last year for Silver Linings Playbook. My favorite movie of hers, for which she should have been given an oscar was Winter's Bone. This year Julia Roberts just delivers an amazing performance together with Meryl in August: Osage Country, families are really complicated and full of BIG personalities, one of my favorite movies this year!
